Over the years the organisation has had several names, including SkillShare, Maryborough Learning Centre, Goldfields Employment and Learning Centre and now Mill House Neighbourhood House.
The organisation's original mission was to provide opportunities for building new skills and employment opportunities for residents of the central goldfields. That mission has been expanded by Millhouse to include help for those struggling with cost of living, mental health, loneliness, isolation and parenting. We host a wide variety of groups and projects, in partnership with community organsiations. And we provide spaces for hire.
Mill Houses's philosophy is that the Maryborough and central goldfields communities can make a difference together. Strong communities grow from connection, learning and inclusion. Mill House is your local community hub. A place to learn, share, volunteer and connect. You will find it is a welcoming, inclusive, and empowering place to 'hang out'
Good Shepherd No Interest Loans...
Mill House can provide struggling residents with small loans (up to $3000) for essentials
like appliances or furniture, to help you get your car back on the road, pay for education
fees, medical equipment and for some special purposes such as bond to secure a new property or
for recovery from a natural disaster.

Putting food on the table...
Mill House has implemented a 'Community Food Pantry' from which members of the central
gold fields community can obtain free food items that have been generously donated.

And a weekly market is held every Thursday from 9:30am.

Mental health...
Millhouse holds a Peer Collective Mental Health support group on Wednesday
afternoons. These groups offer safe, non-judgmental spaces for people with
lived experience to connect, share stories, and offer mutual support. It
provides practical insights and fosters community care to reduce isolation,
often led by councillors with similar experiences, rather than clinicians.

Loneliness and isolation...
Mill House provides low cost or no cost spaces for a wide variety of hobby groups.
One of those hobby groups is a Dungeons & Dragons group for young Maryboroughians, where they
can share their passion for the game and make new friends.

Another hobby group at Mill House is the U3A Digital Story Tellers group for Maryboroughians of
any age to share their passion for story telling, and make new friends in the process.

Parenting
Mill House holds playgroup sessions on Mondays and Wednesdays where parents
of young children can make friends, seek support and advice from other parents
and allow their young children to socialise.

It also provides a Parent Pathways program with sessions on Mondays. This
is a voluntary Australian government program offering free, tailored support
to parents and carers of children under six who are not in paid employment. It
provides mentors to help with education, training, career guidance, child care
access, and financial support, including an Individual Fund of $1,250 annually
for expenses.

Employment...
Mill House provides spaces for four employment services:
